Hi,
I apologize if this question might be a bit awkward or blunt, but it's something I have really been wondering about. I have, in the past, struggled with the sin of masturbation. I was finally able to go to confession about it and get my soul clean again! That was about 6 months ago. Since then, I have been doing really well abstaining from all sexual acts outside of marriage, like I should be doing. (I'm an unmarried female for now, hope to get married in a couple years!) However, a few weeks ago, I was tempted to revert back to my old ways. The temptation was very strong, so strong that I even starting performing some of the behavior that leads up to masturbation, but by the grace and power of God, before I actually committed masturbation, I managed to get ahold of myself and stop before it got too far. My question is: I feel guilty about even starting the behavior that leads up to masturbation, and I want to confess it. However, I am not sure how to explain this to my priest without giving him too many details, as this is quite an embarrassing topic to discuss. Since this episode, I have recieved Holy Communion, because I had convinced myself that I hadn't done anything wrong. I need to know if what I did was a mortal sin, so that if it WAS, I can also confess sacrilege (receiving communion in the state of mortal sin) Thank you so much in advance!! |

If you want to confess it, just go dot it. You don't have to give details.
"Father, I entertained impure thoughts." Keep it simple. Move on.
